"I am very proud of winning the 200m dash my junior year. It just felt so good to finally see that all the hours I had been putting in didn't result in me coming up short again like the two years before it. And, I proved my doubters wrong."
What are your goals for this season?
"Try to get back at the end of track, just so I can do one more thing in my high school career. I tore my ACL and had to get surgery on it."
Who are your role models in your sport or life, and how have they influenced you?
"My role models in my sport would definitely have to be the Wes Welker's or the Julian Edelman's of the NFL and NBA because they aren't the biggest, fastest, or strongest by any means. But, they are some of the best workers, and their determination to work is what allowed them to play in the league and be great."
How do you manage the balance between academics and athletics? What strategies have been most effective for you?
"I just try to get most of it finished in class, but if there's things I need to do, then it might just have to be a late night. And, that's okay as long as I keep the grades up."
How do you handle pressure and maintain mental resilience during high-stakes competition?
"I just have to tell myself that there is no one better. I have to compete and have fun whether I win or lose. Just do my best, and it will all be good."
What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?
"I plan to play football at the D2 level."
What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?
"I would have to say that if you are going to be in a high school sport, make sure you have fun, but also be locked in to what you are doing. If what you are doing is something that you don't really enjoy, then you shouldn't be out there because there are plenty of opportunities outside of just that sport. It could really affect team chemistry and morale, especially in a sport like football."
Do you have any funny pre-game rituals or superstitions that you stick to?
"Not really😂."
If you were to participate in a talent show unrelated to your sport, what would your act be?
"I would probably try to sing or cook some gourmet ramen."
