Chromebook Use & Check Out Policy 2026-2027

Dear parents of middle school students—6th through 8th grade:

We are excited to provide Chromebook computers for student use to support their learning. Below is an overview of the Chromebook checkout and return process to ensure the devices are used and maintained properly.

Chromebook Checkout Process:

• Students will use a school-issued computer only when it is needed for classroom learning.
• Each classroom is assigned a dedicated computer cart. To help keep devices organized and ensure accountability, each student will be assigned a numbered computer that they will use throughout the school year
• Upon checkout, students should inspect their Chromebook for any damage and report any issues immediately.
• Chromebooks must be kept in good condition and used solely for educational purposes, following the District’s Acceptable Use Policy.

Chromebook Return Process:

• At the end of class, students will help ensure computers are returned to the correct numbered slot and stored properly for the next class. 
• The exact Chromebook issued must be returned, and any missing or damaged devices should be reported to the staff immediately.
• Staff regularly inspect the devices for damage or missing accessories.

Late Returns:
If a Chromebook is not returned in the correct number slot, the teacher will contact parents, and guardians to notify them that their student’s computer is missing. 

Replacement Cost:
Please note that Chromebooks are valued at $328 for replacement if they are lost or significantly damaged. It is essential that students handle their Chromebooks carefully to avoid any issues.  See back of page for additional charges.
